Farmers market after haying is a fused glass wall art piece that had been fired twice for over 40 hours. The first firing allows the background to become very smooth and shiny. A lesser temperature firing comes second so that the figures adhere to the glass, but don’t sink i.. By doing this, the figures stand out in three dimensions. The result is all the glass is adhered together and becomes one piece.
This panel shows the hay cutting completed, now covered in white plastic to protect it from the northern winters. The bales are big and round and kids call them the big marshmallows. The background green glass shows the circular areas where the hay baling machines have traveled. It’s Fall and the farmers have lots of vegetables and fruits to display and sell at the end of the farm road. Visitors to the farm have started arriving to buy their organic produce. Lots of friendly and happy discourse between them all.
