A Father and His Two Girls is a fused glass panel. Each firing was over 30 hours. The first firing allows the background to become very smooth and shiny. The second firing is done at a lesser temperature so that the figures adhere on top of the glass. In this way the figures with their accompanying embellishments stand out in three dimensions. All the glass is adhered together and become one piece. The shiny glittering embellishments are dichroic glass and appear to change color and glitter.
The background glass is made up of two separate colors of special art glass that together allow an appearance of a sunrise or sunset when it is backlit. When there is no backlighting it is a lovely, bright scene of a father taking his girls with him to some special occasion.
The piece comes with its own handmade black aluminum frame.
