Colorful Mosaic Cityscape is a fused glass piece of wall art has been in the kiln for two firings, each of which was over 30 hours, and up to 1500 degrees. The first firing allows the background to become very smooth and shiny. The second firing is done at a lesser temperature so that the figure adheres to the glass, but doesn’t sink into it to become a part. In this way the figure and its accompanying embellishments stand out in three dimensions. The shiny glass is dichroic and both reflects and refracts the light so that it adds glimmer and changes color. All the glass is adhered together and become one piece.
The background blue and white glass is cathedral glass (allows light to come through) as are many of the buildings.
Colorful Mosaic Cityscape can be hung on a wall or backlit against a window to emphasize the various colors.
It comes complete with a handmade black aluminum frame.
